NRG Systems is a rapidly growing manufacturer in the wind power assessment field. While rapid growth is always welcome in business, the fast paced growth caused NRG to completely outstrip their order management process and look to replace it with a new Order Management System.
NRG partnered with Competitive Computing (C2) to help them develop new systems capable of keeping pace with their growth. In the case of the Order Management System, NRG needed a system that would smoothly handle regular orders and prevent difficult or exception cases from interrupting their lean process flow.
C2 choose Inside Edge Software to join their NRG team to provide the ability to bridge business users and technical resources and quickly analyze the complex requirements of the Order Management System.
The team used business process modeling to understand how the sales, production and fulfillment teams at NRG worked together to place, produce and fulfill product orders. Using the process modeling as the basis, the design team developed a prototype to model a new interactive design. The prototype allowed NRG to evaluate alternatives and select the best approach.
As part of the site implementation, Inside Edge coordinated resources from C2, NRG and a third party Great Plains ERP consultant. The implementation focused on a service-oriented-architecture and was implemented using Microsoft SharePoint technology.
